How does laser hair removal work?

Laser hair removal is a popular cosmetic procedure that involves the use of laser technology to target and remove unwanted hair. The process works by emitting a concentrated beam of light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) or the blood supply present in the hair follicles. This light energy is converted into heat, which damages the hair follicles, inhibiting future hair growth.
Will it hurt?

While it is not painless, it is very tolerable! Some people say it's similar to a rubber band snapping on your skin. The treatments are very quick and so the pain does not last long. We also have a machine called the Zimmer which blows cold air on the area during the treatment and can help make your appointment more comfortable. After your treatment, technicians will provide our Restorative Gel which will help calm, restore, and soothe the treatment area.
What Skin types and Hair Colors do we treat?

Since we have both Candela's Nd:Yag and Alexandrite lasers, we can treat all skin types and ethnicities. Our lasers target the pigment in the hair follicle, so as long as the hair is dark in color (black or brown) and thick (not vellus hair - peach fuzz) then it is treatable! We are unable to treat white, grey, blonde, or red hair.
What lasers do we use?

At Simplicity Laser, we use the industry's top-of-the-line lasers - the Candela Nd:Yag and Alexandrite.
Why do I need multiple treatments?

Our hair is not growing all at the same time. Because our hair grows in cycles, typically only some of the hair follicles are actively growing when you are being treated! Because of this, we try to treat clients during their active surge (when the hair is actively growing). Multiple sessions are needed so that we can target the hair follicles that were dormant and are now active during the previous sessions.
When will I see results?

Hormones and the treatment area can affect results, but typically you should see some hair shedding and reduction within a couple of treatments! To see a full clinical endpoint (70-90% reduction) most clients need 14-16 treatments.
Who will perform my treatments?

All of our treatments are performed by qualified and licensed technicians!
How to prepare for my laser treatments

On the day of your appointment, you will want no sun exposure (longer than 30 minutes), wear loose clothing, and be cleanly shaven. We recommend planning to not exercise that day to allow your body to cool and heal! If you are going to work out, you will not want to work out before your treatment and to wait at least two hours after your treatment to exercise.
