Chemical Peel Pre/Post Treatment Care

before your treatment
- Do not have sun exposure extending 30 minutes within 3 days prior to treatment.
- Do not go to a tanning bed within 14 days prior to treatment.
- Delay use of Tretinoin, Retin-A, Renova, Differin, Tazorac, Avage, EpiDuo, Ziana, and high-percentage AHA and BHA products for approximately 3 days prior to treatment.
- Schedule and allow for at least two weeks for complete healing and optimal results.
- Reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance if you have a rash, or skin concern in the treatment area.
- If you have a history of cold sores let your provider know. They may suggest an antiviral medication prior to treatment.
- You are NOT a candidate if you are pregnant.
- Consult with your medical provider if you are breastfeeding.
after your treatment
Day of Treatment
- Refrain from touching the treated area.
- Do not wash your face for a minimum of 8 hours, or allow treatment to absorb overnight.
For the Next 2 Days
- Stay as cool as possible. Overheating internally can cause hyperpigmentation.
- Do not put the treated area directly into a hot shower spray, use hot tubs, steam rooms, saunas, swimming or submerge the treated area in water.
- Do not participate in activities that would cause excessive perspiration.
- Do not use loofahs or other means of physical exfoliation.
- Do not apply ice or ice water to the treated area.
Following Your Treatment
- Avoid using harsh exfoliants for 5 days.
- Wear sunscreen, even if you are not in direct sunlight.
- Do not have sun exposure extending 30 minutes in 7 days post treatment.
- Do not go to a tanning bed within 14 days prior to treatment.
- Do not pick or pull on any loosening or peeling skin. This could cause hyperpigmentation.
