before your appointment
- Schedule and allow at least 2 weeks prior to a special event or vacation.
- Discontinue use of Retin-A, retinols, glycolic acid, alpha hydroxy acid, and other exfoliating products for 3 days before treatment.
- Avoid alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E, fish oil, ginkgo biloba, and other blood-thinning medications or supplements for 24–48 hours prior to treatment to minimize the risk of bruising.
- Inform your provider if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a history of neuromuscular disorders, or are taking antibiotics or muscle relaxants.
- Let us know if you have had recent vaccinations, cold sores, or any skin infections in the treatment area.
- Arrive with a clean face free of makeup, lotion, sunscreen, or other products.
- Plan treatments at least 2 weeks apart from facials, chemical peels, or laser treatments.
- Eat a small meal or snack before your appointment to avoid lightheadedness.
after your appointment
- Stay upright for at least 4 hours following treatment.
- Do not rub, massage, or apply pressure to the treated area for 24 hours.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, heat exposure, saunas, hot tubs, and tanning beds for 24 hours.
- Refrain from drinking alcohol or taking blood-thinning medications for 24 hours.
- Do not schedule facials, chemical peels, or laser treatments for at least 2 weeks.
- You may apply ice packs gently to reduce swelling or bruising if needed.
- Minor redness, swelling, or tenderness is normal and should resolve within a few days.
- Makeup may be applied lightly after 4 hours if desired.
- Full results develop within 7–14 days; schedule a follow-up if adjustments are needed.
